Favored by Northeast growers, this old standard from Johnny's Select Seeds is now available. Also known as German White or German Extra Hardy.
The original seed for this productive and beautiful strain came to us in a 43 bulb braid with a box of Iowa sweet corn! From Des Moines area grower Jordan Clasen, Grade A Gardens. Very vigorous growing seed producing large bulbs with pure white bulb-wrappers. Most bulbs have more cloves than our standard German Stiffneck. Bulbs often contain 7 large fat cloves. This porcelain strain has been grown in Iowa for some time but appears to be the same variety as the German White (or German Stiffneck) that is a popular standard with Northeast growers. Image coming this fall.
From the Czech collection of New York grower, Dr. Boris Andrs. Pure white bulb wrappers.
